Back start of cruise

Back to Yesterday

Today was a "no-boat" day, I had to take my car back home to get it in for a major service. Then back here by train. Tamworth to Crewe was a good run on a Pendo, then a 90 minute wait in Crewe for the local all-gate-posts special to Nantwich. This is a more human service than the Virgin get you there as fast as we can job. At Crewe the gaurd acting as porter to unload a lady's overloaded pot plant, I just wished I'd had my camera ready! Nantwich is hte first stop out of Crewe and there the gaurd was cehcking tickets as folks got on the train to see it there were any traveling to Wrenbury which is a request stop (now there's something for small boys, the feeling of power as they hail a passing tran....).

A Class 153dmu from Crewe to Shrewsbury departing Nantwich

Once back at the boat it ws work, sadly there's a job I need to get done in a hurry, someone took a contract without first making sure resource would be in the office to do it, still it does mean I'm getting paid to sit on a boat. In then eveing one of the guys I work with came over and we went out for a "curry and a pint" Nantwich has a few pubs and restraunt, we just wandered around until we found th one that looked OK and went in. The result is I would suggest the "Inian Ocean" as serving good food (if a little mild by my taste) and the next pub toward the boatyard as a good pub, I think Tuesday night is their "jazz night", as one of those jazz duos that could play all night was "in full flow"; the barmaid was very efficient, remmbering what we were drinking, not bad in a crowded pub!!

A couple of shots around Nantwich Basin, first of the buildings

And one of the dog mooring, I hope I never meet the dog that can move that lump of iron....

And finally one of Explorer in the evening sun at Nantwich Basin

On to Tomorrow
